Round 1 Reflections
/Thank you
A big thank you to the Burmey family for an amazing racetrack. No amount of time, effort and money were spared to create a track that actually needed water for the 2nd half of the race. Hard to believe considering the weather this spring.
Thank you to the parents of the 50cc and little ladies classes for their assistance in getting their kids to the mini bike track at the crack of dawn to run the races.
Thanks to Marvin Penner for stepping up and contributing as a referee - he did a fantastic job.
Thanks to the 16-24 class and plus 25 classes for being on time to staging to start the day! Starting on time is key to the race day finishing on time.
Thanks to all of the classes for being on time to staging as this ultimately results in an incredibly efficient race day.
Thanks to everyone for being on time for our first riders meeting in 3 years - although they won’t take long there will always be some important reminders for the race day. And this gathering also provides the opportunity for some fellowship with the Chapel that follows immediately after the meeting.
Lessons Learned
The biggest lesson learned from our first race is that it is absolutely critical that every rider must race to the checkered flag. Do NOT pull off the track until you get a checkered flag. Mistakes will happen with the finish flagger for one reason or another and it has happened at the highest levels of our sport where a rider pulls off thinking they got the checkered flag but in fact they did not, and had to hop back into the race!
