Ed & Phyllis Fawcett : recipients of the builder / contributor award
This husband and wife team formed motocross as we know it today! Both were true constants as head referee and scorekeeper for many years while Manitoba was under CMA affiliation. Ed led tech inspection prior to every event, checking both bike and helmet for proper certification and Phyllis ensured scoring was always executed and results were always up and ready. Ed and Phyllis were the CMA region reps, assisting in the development for many officials to follow and were critical to the foundation of our sport in Manitoba.
Lawrence Hamm : Recipient of the builder / contributor award
Lawrence was not only an exceptional Pro rider, but contributed to the fabric of motocross in Manitoba by serving as the past President of Motosport Manitoba, where he was responsible for all forms of motorcycle racing in Manitoba. He has also served as President of the Manitoba Motocross Association assisting promoters and always ensuring motocross continued to operate at a high level in Manitoba.
roy & Debra borton : recipients of the builder / contributor award
Roy and Debra were instrumental in Manitoba motocross as promoters of motocross events indoors and out, as business operators in the “Wheels West” dealership, and as sponsors for many many riders over the years, including the likes of Shane Drew who currently works for Team Honda in the U.S. Later in life, Roy worked independently in his garage under “Roy Borton Race” and helped countless riders with both suspension and motor work. He also coached many pro riders to the highest level of Canadian motocross, such as Don Formo and Earl Reimer as two prominent examples.
